Through the Echoes is a photographic project born from a pilgrimage through the Sierra de los Tuxtlas, Veracruz. Moving through volcanic land, rainforest, water, mist, and silence, I approached the landscape as a living presence rather than a subject to be captured.
The region carries a deep cultural and spiritual memory. Los Tuxtlas were part of the Olmec world and has been shaped over time by Popoluca and Nahua communities; its volcanoes, lakes, and ancient settlements reveal a territory where land, water, ritual, and cosmology have long been connected.
Rather than representing these traditions directly, the project listens for their echoes in the landscape. The photographs become gestures of attention, offering, and reverence — a contemporary form of devotion rooted in walking, looking, waiting, and entering relationship with the more-than-human world.
